Vanguard: Beyond the Horizon is a hotel experience located next to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, FL, created in a semester-long multidisciplinary studio. In this studio, groups consisting of students from graphic, industrial, architectural, and interior design, were tasked with creating a NASA themed hotel experience including the physical hotel, a mobile learning unit, and a UX/UI component. The teams acted as design studios, seeing the project through from RFP to delivery, including presenting to NASA officials at the end of the semester. ​​​​​​​

Personal Takeaways: The importance of presentation, understanding that presentation of a design is just as, if not more important than the design itself. Even the best designs don't get off the ground if they are presented poorly. Another takeaway is the importance of collaboration and teamwork and being able to come together as a team and compromise for a greater and more cohesive delivery.

VANGUARD MOBILE APP
Mobile app to be used during guest's stay at the hotel. Includes face ID activated room key, gamification of achievements gained through different experiences at the hotel, in-app scheduling of different events at the hotel, an AI chat bot and more. Process included multiple iterations of different screens, emotional journey maps, and guest personas.
GUEST PERSONAS
Guest personas of likely demographics to visit Vanguard. Personas were used from the beginning of the project to inform all design decisions.
